Over 600 residents currently call Faneuil Gardens home. As a public housing community, Faneuil Gardens provides deeply affordable homes to low-income households. Like all BHA communities, the resident community here forms a diverse tapestry in terms of race, ethnicity, culture, and age. Designing a site that prioritizes the following key demographics has been critically important.
caregivers
One-third of current residents are caregivers, primarily heads of household. Many of these individuals are raising children or caring for aging family members.
One-third of residents are children under the age of fourteen. Providing safe places for kids to play and socialize is one of the community’s top priorities.
seniors
One-sixth of residents are seniors, some of whom live with their families and some of whom live on their own. Many are long-term Faneuil Gardens residents with deep knowledge of the site’s history.
young adults
One-sixth of residents are young adults. Many of them are working, studying, or living with their families.
